Quantum Mechanics/Tutorials
There will be several source texts. The 3 core ones are Mathematical Methods, Griffiths, and Gasciorowicz.
Overview:
- Problems in Physics: Why Quantum, what is quantum
- Schrodinger's Equation
- Review of Statistics
- Follow Griffiths, with supporting material from Gasc. Be sure to pause to appreciate the math from time to time.
Format:
Chapters are composed of sections. Generally, about 20 section per chapter.
Each section is:
- Short (< 5 minute) video tutorial
- Short tutorial in print
- 1-2 Problems
- 1-2 "Deep Thought" problems
- Supplementary Reading references: Wikipedia, textbooks, etc...
At the end of each chapter:
- Review video (~ 10 minutes)
- Review section
- ~10 problems?
- Test
Study Methods:
- Students can learn by watching the video, reviewing the text, doing the "easy" problems, in about an hour long section. They check their work, and move on to another subject.
- Students must spend the "in-between" times thinking about the "Deep Thought" problems.
- Pace can be about 3-8 sections a week.
