Chinese in Korean

Chinese accounts for a great number of words and proverbs in Korean.

Hanja

Hanja (literally, "Chinese Characters") form the basis of the vast majority of words that Koreans use. If you try to memorize the words without learning the characters, you will never understand enough to communicate fluently. Learn the characters, and the words are natural.

Proverbs

Chinese scholars take great pride in being well-read in the Chinese Classics and understanding the various poems and sayings contained there. Koreans also consider being able to understands these texts and the accompanying proverbs to be a sign of a high intellect. Chinese culture has therefore contributed a large number of proverbs.
