주다

1. 타 to give

a. (some kind of thing) To take something out and cause someone to carry, realize, or act.

• 돈을 주다: to give money
• 사랑을 주다: to give love
• 임무를 주다: to give an assignment

b. (some kind of bad thing) To make someone suffer or experience.

• 피해를 주다: to damage
• 상처를 주다: to wound

c. (things like strings or ropes) To continue to extend.

• 연주를 주다: to extend the rope some more

d. (vision) To turn to.

• 창 밖으로 시선을 주다: to turn to look out the window

e. (body) to face a direction.

• 상방신을 앞으로 주다

f. (shot or treatment) To give treatment or a shot.

g. (speed, strength, etc...) To cause to increase.

2. 보동사</category> to (do something) for / in behalf of (someone else)

To do something on behalf or for someone else. Requires 어 after the verb to be attached to.

• 읽어 주다: to read to someone else (not for yourself)
