Glue + 보다:to try ~
One of the senses of 보다 is to experience something. This form combines that sense of the verb with some other action. The combined meaning is "to try ~" so you can have the experience.
Success or failure is not determined. In fact, this form has a sense of probable failure, although the actor may try really hard to succeed and snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat.
