Object Marker

The object markers are 조사 (Marker, Particle) attached to 체언 (Substantive) and mark that it is the target of the 타동사 (Transitive Verb).

There are only two:

• 를 follows words that end with a vowel.
  • ㄹ is an abbreviation of 를.
• 을 follows words that end with a consonant.

Examples

• 종이를 자르다

to cut paper

• 추위를 견디다

to endure cold

• 글씨를 쓰다

to write words

• 밥을 먹다

to eat rice

• 집을 짓다

to build a house

• 누굴 탓하랴?

How could I possibly blame someone?

• 뭘 하고 있니?
